About June Prager

Bio

June Prager enjoys creating theatre works with adult and teenage actors at all skill levels.  She has directed professional and community theatre actors as well as notable actors of stage and screen. In New York City, she served as Artistic Director for the Mirage Theatre Company and in Philadelphia, for the Hedgerow Theatre and Theatre International Exchange.   Most recently, she directed Distant Survivors and Broken Dolls, both produced by Zeiders American Dream Theater in Virginia Beach, VA.

In New York City, she has directed Off-Broadway, Equity Showcase productions, and staged readings of many plays, including Once More with Feeling at the Actors Playhouse, The Diary of Anne Frank at the Manhattan Theatre Club, Image and Likeness featuring Sam Waterston at St. Clements Theatre, and Christopher Blake featuring Maria Tucci at the Quaigh Theatre.

 

In Philadelphia, June and John Essick founded Theatre International Exchange (TIE) dedicated to presenting premieres by contemporary foreign playwrights and developing international theatre collaborations.  Its Board of Advisors included theatre luminaries Jeremy Brett, Joe Dowling, and Athol Fugard. For TIE, June directed international premieres by contemporary playwrights from South Africa, Canada and Russia: Panorama, The Komagata Maru Incident, Boiler Room Suite, and Evacuation Train with tours to Temple University, Delaware University, Villanova University, and Philadelphia Community College.  She also directed Visions, a co-production with the Wilam Horzycy Theatre in Poland. TIE presented Forum for Theatre Professionals, a conference with theatre directors and teachers from London, Dublin, Belfast, Montreal, and New York City. 

 

June was invited to be a guest artist at international performing arts festivals including Kontact in Poland, the Aarhus International Theatre Festival in Denmark, and the Netherlands International Festival in Amsterdam. She is a member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.
